Looking to spoil your dog with a homemade treat? This peanut butter dog biscuit recipe is just what you need! Whether rewarding good behaviour or simply showing extra love, these tasty treats are sure to get some tail-wagging approval.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup natural creamy peanut butter*
  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup water (or bone broth for extra flavour)
  • 1 egg

* When selecting peanut butter, ensure it’s free from xylitol, an artificial sweetener that’s toxic to pets. Opt for natural, unsalted peanut butter made from 100% peanuts.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 170°C and line two trays with baking paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the peanut butter and egg until well combined.
  • Add whole wheat flour and water (or bone broth) and continue mixing until a dough forms.
  • Lightly flour your surface, then knead the dough until fully combined. If it feels sticky, add a little more flour.
  • Roll the dough out to about 5mm thickness
  • Use a cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits and arrange them on the lined baking trays (no need to space them far apart as they won’t spread in the oven).
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the edges are brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack before letting your dog enjoy a taste test!

Keep in mind that treats should be given in moderation, taking into account any dietary allergies your pet may have. It’s always a good idea to check with your vet before adding new foods to your dog’s diet, particularly if they have existing health conditions.
