Mark graduated from Onderstepoort University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1995. During his time in South Africa not only was he a qualified Veterinarian but he also spent 6 years working in retail owning a small vet shop group and running his own business venture. Before Mark left, he was the CVO at the very busy SPCA in Cape Town, managing a team of 5 Vets. Mark has experience in private practice, welfare, and plenty of surgical experience.

In 2020 Mark and his family made the decision to move to New Zealand, however due to COVID didn’t arrive to Auckland until June 2021. Since being with the clinic he has helped the team grown and been a mentor to some of our veterinarians. Mark has a special interest in orthopaedics and can perform MMP surgery.

During his spare time Mark is quite the outdoors man, he enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, surf skiing and regular skiing. Mark even abseiled 112m off Table Mountain as a fundraiser, raising R220,000 to purchase a full plating kit for his clinic. If it’s outdoors, you can almost always say he’s tried it. Mark is also a bit of a “coffee snob” and when he can get away, he loves to go for a walk up the road to get one, otherwise he’s always the first person to make one for himself in clinic and anybody else who wants one.
