What made you decide to be a veterinarian/veterinary nurse?

  • I have loved companion animals since I was a child. My dream to become a veterinarian came from the experience of losing my Pomeranian due to kidney failure during my childhood. As a child, I felt helpless due to my lack of knowledge and ability to help her, and this regret stayed with me. As I grew older, I became determined to become a veterinarian to diagnose and treat animals and provide pet owners with correct knowledge and information.

Which aspect of the job do you love most?

  • The field I enjoy the most in veterinary medicine is dentistry. Just like humans, animals need regular professional dental care to prevent periodontal and endodontic diseases. I find that it is crucial to educate and raise awareness among pet owners about the importance of daily brushing and dental care at home in addition to regular dental cleaning under general anesthesia. Dental diseases might not be immediately visible, but they significantly affect the well-being of animals. Unlike humans, animals can’t express their pain or the signs could be subtle and overlooked, so I believe it is our role as veterinarians to be their advocates.

Do you have any pets? Tell us something special about your pets!

  • I currently have three cats, all of them were originally strays. Taiga is the oldest and, despite having only three legs, he is very agile and has a great appetite. Because of him, we have to hide the dishwashing sponge (since he tries to eat it). Yamato is a black cat and a bit more timid compared to the other two, but he is very affectionate and meows the most. Mikan, the youngest, is a ginger cat who is very mischievous and always playing chase with Yamato. Mikan has a unique way of drinking water; he can’t drink without first splashing it with his paw.

What are your favourite activities in your spare time?

  • My hobbies are gaming, knitting, drawing, hiking, and playing the guitar and ukulele.

If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?

  • If I could be an animal, I would choose to be a sloth, spending most of the day sleeping and enjoying a slow-paced life.
