Jun-Yan grew up in Singapore, He graduated with a Bachelor of Science at the National University of Singapore, after which he spent a few years carrying out zebrafish developmental biology and nature conservation research at various research agencies. He has since made Australia his second home, completing his vet degree from James Cook University in 2016. Upon graduation, he spent two years at Queensland Veterinary Specialists, Brisbane completing a rotating and surgery internship. He then spent 6 months with the surgery department at Sydney Veterinary Emergency and Specialists, Sydney prior to completing a Graduate Certificate at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon.
He returned to Sydney to undertake a residency program in Small Animal Surgery before moving to Southpaws in 2022 to continue his training. Jun-Yan enjoys all aspects of veterinary surgery especially orthopaedics and trauma management whilst also having a special interest in exotic/zoological medicine and volunteer veterinary work.
